A day in the life
What are you enjoying most at Schindler
We are the only company within our industry in New Zealand that offers a comprehensive Apprenticeship Program that also allows you to become a qualified Electrician. Through our globally connected network you have the opportunity to learn from some of the most skilled technicians and installers within the field.
Our Program involves rotations through our New Installations and Service departments and ensures that you will gain exposure to a wide range of electrical, mechanical, and telecommunications disciplines.
Throughout your apprenticeship you will be required to attend night classes and block courses while you work towards a New Zealand Certificate in Electrical Engineering Theory and Practice (Trade).
For entry into our apprenticeships or traineeships we generally only accept individuals who have NCEA Level 2 (English, Maths, and Science) or recognised equivalent. If you are under 18 years of age at the start date of your apprenticeship or traineeship, your parent or guardian must sign the training contract, amongst other responsibilities.
At Schindler we have a success rate of over 90% of apprentices not only completing their trade, but deciding to continue their careers with our business.
Upon finishing their apprenticeships, some Schindler graduates have taken their careers well beyond the electrical field.
Whilst many choose to continue in the trade, some have taken career paths leading to technical, engineering, sales, operations and management roles.
